London’s underground is more than a transportation system — it’s a layered maze of tunnels, abandoned stations, burial grounds, and forgotten corridors where history never truly left. Beneath the city’s streets lie places tied to plague pits, executions, and tragic deaths, making the Underground one of the most paranormally charged spaces in the world.
Below are some of London’s most haunted underground locations, paired with the ghost stories that continue to follow them. After exploring below ground, you’ll also find several haunted locations above ground — all within walking distance — where paranormal enthusiasts can explore more paranormal.

Victorian Station
A Witness Account from the London Underground
In the summer of 2006, a traveler staying near Victoria Station reported a strange encounter while using the London Underground. Each evening, the witness returned via Victoria Station, riding the long escalator that carries passengers from the Underground platforms up to street level.
That summer was marked by extreme heat, intensified by the limited air conditioning common in both private residences and public spaces throughout London. The Underground in particular was oppressive, heavy with stagnant air.
On one occasion, while standing alone on the escalator, the witness felt a distinct vibration consistent with someone running quickly up the metal steps to their left. Reacting instinctively, they moved closer to the right-hand railing to make space for the approaching person.
As the sensation of passing footsteps reached them, a sudden, icy rush of air moved past — a sharp contrast to the surrounding heat. When the witness turned to look, no one was visible. Despite this, the sound and sensation of footsteps continued upward along the escalator, though the steps remained empty.
Upon reaching street level, the witness approached a station worker who was distributing free bottled water to passengers affected by the heat. After hearing the account, the worker stated that unusual incidents were frequently reported by both staff and commuters and expressed no doubt that the Underground was haunted.
Elephant & Castle Underground Station is nearby and can be explored for the Girl on the Train Haunted reported here.
Westminster Area includes Westminster Abby home to a spectral soldier and the Tower of London and St. James Palace.
Bank Underground Station
Bank Station sits atop one of London’s oldest and most layered areas, intersecting ancient Roman roads and medieval burial sites. The most well-known apparition is Sarah Whitehead, often called The Black Nun. After her brother was executed for forgery in the early 1800s, she reportedly waited decades for his return. Witnesses have reported sightings of a woman in black wandering the station corridors, sometimes vanishing suddenly or appearing distressed.
St. Mary Woolnoth Church built over a 17th- century plague pit.
All Hallows-by-the-Tower is a church with a crypt that is reported to be haunting of an old woman and a phantom cat. Explosions from gunpoweder caused fatalities that may fuel the haunting here. The most notable historical significance of this church is its association with the Tower of London executions such as Sir Thomas More, which served as temporary resting places for the executed.
